Unlocking The Creative Mind
Have you ever felt like you are caught simply doing what is trendy or routine? Once success is trending in an area, everyone flocks to it. It might be time to separate from the pack and find your creative side, especially when it comes to marketing. Here are a couple ways to ignite the imaginative side of your brain:
1. Watch Your Environment
A crucial factor in the development of creativity is a direct product of your surroundings. Have you ever had that moment when you are sitting on your couch after work, drinking a glass of wine or beer, and then that brilliant idea you’ve been searching for at work all week comes to you?
We all have, no matter what industry or job you are in. This magical occurrence isn’t by luck or chance in reality. It is the outcome of your mental state while you are in the friendly confines of your home. At home, you are free to think, act, and speak however you please, in complete comfort and safety.
This is when your brain naturally taps into the creative juices that have been locked up previously at work. If you find yourself in a work environment that is not suitable to open thinking or rather susceptible to groupthink, it may be time to shake things up.
2. Mix Up Your Routine
Since I began my journey into the marketing world, the whole idea marketing was based on creativity and innovation. In college, professors stressed the notion of thinking outside the box, always creating new, and continuous drive to search for the next big idea.
I quickly realized once I started working my first position in the marketing world, not all marketing positions are suited to drive imagination and creativity. Marketing can just as easily fall under a set of standardized functions and tactics, which are all proven to work without a doubt. However, they will not get you to the next level.
The most creative thinkers and marketers in the world, never accept a routine. They stir the pot on a daily basis, challenging their mind to tap into that creative fuel. Even though it may be somewhat unsettling to continuously throw yourself into what is new and different, it will always keep your brain striving to reach new heights.
