Why Not?
Walking in Brisbane's West End this morning, I walked past this street sign.
I stopped and looked at it for a few minutes.
Why not?

Why not?
If this doesn't ignite you to stop and think - you probably are not human.
So often in life, we are asked the question "why?"
Why not dance in the rain?
Why not take the morning off?
Why not walk past a Church and walk in?
Why not drink a glass of wine on a Monday?
Why not buy that dress in the window?
Why not take that holiday that you have always wanted to take?
Why not take a chance on falling in love, even though you may get hurt?
Why not walk without your shoes on?
Why not talk to that person sitting at the bar all by themselves?
Why not be yourself?
It's ok. Really, it is.

10 Apr 2013Life really IS all about choices after all, isn't it?! And it is really up to us which option to choose! Sometimes we forget that we are actually in control, and just go with the usual routine, the mainstream, the normal path. Good point! Being creative once in a while won't hurt anyone!

05 Mar 2013Considering why not to do something makes us consider our morals and the positive and negative consequences of doing it. It is hard to live by this code of "why not" because we live in a society where everything we do has consequences. We are so overly regulated in Australia with fines and laws for many aspects of daily life which controls our behaviour. Sometimes asking ourselves why not take a risk or be care free can create motivation to jump into something which can be good as we approach a challenge or something we wouldn't usually do.

24 Feb 2013I'd have to agree with Emma and Arnaud about the perceived risks associated with living life with 'Why not?' as a rebuttal to all the 'Why's' we are asked. I think today's generation has been raised with an empowered mentality, believing that nothing can stop us if we try hard enough. However, in the business world, we need to be cautious about the risks we're willing to take in order to get that little bit higher up the corporate ladder. If we can ascertain the 'Why not?' doesn't involve the compromise of our morals and ethics, then by all means go for it.

21 Feb 2013It's clear "Why not" is one of the questions we ask ourselves the most. And I htink we have to ask ourselves this question because a "Why not" can lead to good things but also to bad things.
ReplyWe must find what could be great or not for us and be careful with the "Why not" which can lead to serious opportunities or problems.
But it's clear that sometimes positive responses to "Why not" questions are essential to our well-being.

17 Feb 2013Why not can open many opportunities by getting yourself out there and experiencing what life has to offer but it can also get you into trouble. You have to be careful of when to just do something because you can. There are times to just 'Why Not' and there other times not too. You have to find that line where you are taking healthy risks whether thats in business or in your personal life but not taking it so far that your putting yourself into dangerous situations that are difficult to get out of.

17 Feb 2013i wish it was as easy as asking yourself why not? in this day and age you have to be cautious and think before doing something but that being said the street sign is a chuckle!
