Why Your Marketing Plan Isn't Working?

Generally, all businesses need a comprehensive marketing plan to coordinate their campaigns and properly measure their impact. Marketing is a cumulative effort, and a unified plan maximises the value of every campaign towards a cohesive strategy.

A marketing plan identifies your target audience, the most effective channels on which to engage with them, and analytical insights to guide future strategy. Marketing plans do not always produce instant results – therefore, they are a crucial aspect of a business plan and should be given a considerate amount of attention.

We all procrastinate at one point or another. Hell, I just procrastinated as to whether I would write this blog or not. Obviously, I decided it was better to do it now then later, and moved on, but procrastination can become a problem if you are actually a true "Procrastinator".

February is a great month to take stock of where your company is heading. Closing in on the "pointy' end of the financial year in Australia, companies there are taking stock of whether or not they will make their sales targets.

Marketing Eye is safely on-track, but instead of sitting back and watching the new clients come in, we are firmly placing our feet on the accelerator and going full steam ahead. Our Melbourne and Sydney offices are looking for 50 new clients before the end of the financial year.

So, like any good manager, I have put aside a marketing budget of $150,000 to be spent on sales and marketing activities. Our internship program ensured that we had a heap of new ideas, and alongside our new exposure to the US-market and the way they use technology to power marketing campaigns, I have to say, I am fairly confident that this goal is achievable.

My world is getting a little more clearer

I realized on the weekend that I have been fooling myself. In my mind, I have told myself that everything is fine and as it should be - but the reality is that it isn't. There are things that are not being done or are not going ahead at the rate I would like them to - and that's just my personal life.

In business, its a huge mistake as a small business owner to not be on your game. I put things that pop up, to the way-side - and pretending that they never happened. Constantly, make other things priorities over things that should be at the top of the list and I still don't trust my gut instinct - because if I did, my life would be easy.

We are all in this game to win; whether it is creating a lifestyle business, building an international empire or making huge profits.

Last night I had dinner with a good friend of mine. He is one of the smartest people I know in business. He is not only academical, but very street smart.

I talked in length about the next stage of Marketing Eye's business. That is, expansion into the US, selling rights for the company in Europe and basically becoming a truly global player in small business marketing. No else seems to be taking the lead, so it may as well be me.
