Marketing Eye

I am utterly and completely in love with the business right now, I can't belive it has already been 10 years since Marketing Eye first opened its doors.

What keeps you in the game is the ability to constantly change and perhaps, rev it up a bit.

In the past 3 years, we have been focused on change, innovation and revving it up like no tomorrow. Be careful what you wish for because we have also had to put the brakes on a few times and that has had some very interesting outcomes.

I've had a few sleepless nights and I am not quite sure why. I don't have any real worries and life is treating me very well of late. They say if you rid yourself of negativity or people that don't fit your core values whether they are someone you are in a relationship with, friends with, or associates - life becomes a lot more authentic and clean.

When people ask what my management style is, I often find this a hard question to answer. I am almost never "there" and we have had in place until two years ago a CEO, so there was never a reason for me to be actively involved in day-to-day management or leadership. In the past two years, we have focused on a flat management style where no-one really has a boss but they have a "coach" or person to go to with a title of State Manager whenever they feel the need to for normal administrative purposes or if they feel they are looking for leadership.

I totally agree with this. When I first started Marketing Eye, I built it from a perspective that there was no global player in SMB marketing. While this makes perfect sense, it didn't reach the pit of what I really wanted to achieve as a business person, or a leader for that matter. I also had not thought it through.

"I was doing something from a very real, a very honest place, so I think that's why I was able to build an audience," said Gwyneth Paltrow to Fast Company in a recent interview posted on Facebook.

20 Instagram accounts that will inspire you

"Every day do something that will inch you closer to a better tomorrow"

Inspiration is something everyone needs and admires.

I've been terribly inspired of late. It all started with the beautiful and hugely talented Kristina Karlsson sending me a gift pack of inspirational products from her Kikki.k range.

Why you should outsource your marketing team

As the world continues to change dramatically, marketing is a career that is becoming increasingly difficult to keep on top of.

As a company, we are invested in training and developing our people to ensure that they don't lag behind with a majority of marketers today. This is further endorsed by the fact that in comparison to the US, the update of marketing automation in Australia has been dissimal. It's darn-right embarrassing that marketers or whoever is holding the budget have not yet adopted marketing automation as a way in which to feed the sales funnel and give sales people hot leads rather than cold ones.

Outsourcing your marketing has advantages and disadvanges.

The poison that one person can throw on a company is insurmountable, all made by humans of course in the form of the internet. Yet, we all breathe faith into common sense as a whole and how one complainer, may in fact be the only.

Back in my fathers generation, one bad egg would not have crippled a business, though in these times it would. And so how the world has changed.

The reality of international export

I export marketing services. I started a few years back when I decided to expand Marketing Eye into new markets. The most suitable market after much research was America, so I did what any buddying entrepreneur would do and I completed a market research study to make sure that if I started a business there, it was not set up to fail.

I'm a part-time leader in Atlanta. Actually, less than a part time leader - I am here when I can be but mostly I am running around the world doing other "stuff".

Our brand in Atlanta is growing. I am constantly going out and meeting people who know who we are, what we do and follow us on some sort of social media platform.

It's not by accident that we have grown our business here and it can largely be attributed to a few things:

Why you should reimagine your business

For years, Marketing Eye stayed with the same brand messages and continued to push through to the market key points that we believed were different to what everybody else was saying and doing.

The problem is that when you are online everyone can see for themselves what you are saying and doing, and for competitors to copy, it really is quite simple.
