The gift of giving

whitechristmas_gift-300x225Today I received the first call of the year from a client wanting to get organised with gifts for Christmas for key clients.

You may think that he has allocated too much time to organise, but for many companies, the last minute rush means that not enough thought has gone into it and the gift really does not depict the type of relationship that exists with client and supplier.

As a small business owner, April is the month from hell. Trying to fit in everything into one short month that is riddled with too many public holidays and employees recovering from ‘big weekends’ – is the pits.

Well, alot has happened in aerospace of recent and quite a few million people have been affected. The volanic ash deriving from Iceland has grounded all planes and airports are now laying out beds for passengers to sleep on whilst they wait. It looks like a disaster zone.
Something strange is going on.  A lot of successful business people say that there comes a time in your business life cycle that it either plateaus or the business fires with the injection of new products or services.

Sunday is the best day of the week. I lie in bed reading the Sunday papers, skimming through stories that range from general interest through to politics and business. I skip gossip, but spend time reading real estate and travel. I start the day with the herbal tea and usually head out for breakfast with friends in search of the perfect coffee.

I am one of those people that has been fortunate enough in life to have been brought up in a safe, loving environment where there was always beautiful food on the table, holidays and plenty of good times.
Tuesday morning, isn’t exactly the fresh Monday start I was looking for, but nevertheless, it is the first day of the working week.

stockradar-logoI dabble in shares and its interesting how many people out there actually manage their own superannuation funds.

I have had so many hit and misses it’s ridiculous and enough to shy anyone away from buying shares on the Australian Stock Exchange – yet I still persist.
