I’m pretty sure Jeff Bezos is a genius. I mean when the guy was 3 years old he would take a part his crib in protest so that he could sleep in a real bed. At a young age, he built everything from robots, to crafts, to toys. Even today, he’s building a 10,000 year old clock (if you don’t know what it is check it out!).

And that clock symbolizes something much more than just a cool little weekend hobby the billionaire tech guru works on during weekends. It symbolizes his perspective of time. And that perspective transcends into his business decisions. Bezos said this in an interview about his clock:

Am I an entrepreneur first, or am I a marketer?

I'm sitting at the Qantas Lounge at the Melbourne International Airport ready to board another flight to Los Angeles. I am a tad tired. 2.15am wakeup wasn't my best work, but sometimes excitement does get the best of me. Travelling for me, is exciting and part of the bigger adventure. I get to meet people that inspire me, shock me and sometimes join me on my journey as a friend, client or person "I just know".

Meeting people when you are an introvert is completely and utterly out of your comfort zone, and I know the value of being outside your comfort zone. It's one of the best things that can happen, especially if you are an entrepreneur.

As an entrepreneur, I have found that being a woman has been hugely advantageous to our business and continues to drive our business to new heights as it opens more doors than it closes.

While I have experienced inequality, and yes it has come from men, but overall, it is women that are more likely to hold other women back - and that is fact in today's society.

Not just your average day. I started mine at 5 a.m. eagerly awaiting my flight time of 9 a.m. to Sydney, with so much anticipation and excitement, I literally couldn't contain myself. This past few weeks has been very exciting, adventurous and rewarding in so many ways - I can't begin to explain.
Take flight, and risk it all - if you truly want to be an entrepreneur

Like many business people, you have to get up early to take flights or make it to the office to meet a deadline. That is part of the parcel of being an entrepreneur. Some people prefer late nights, but I personally prefer and always have, going to the office or taking off on the next business adventure early in the morning.

As an avid believer that your team should not be encouraged to work overtime, I am doing a few hard yards myself to keep our fast growing, dynamic and innovative business flourishing.

For the past few nights, I have a lot on my mind and everything has been working overdrive. Thank god, that for now, I don't have a personal life and I am on the go travelling doing the stuff that comes second nature to me.

Finally, I have a printed copy of the 2016/17 Global Marketing Strategy for Marketing Eye and it is being developed out to the point where every single item in the marketing strategy is given to a person who is responsible for outcomes.

It's particularly exciting given that usually we only share part of the plan, but this year, we decided to share it all - along with our profit sharing strategy for employees. It's time for many of our younger team members to start investing in houses or apartments, and they cannot do that without getting some real money behind them.

The pressure of growing your business is insurmountable with the number of areas that each business has to consider.

As a company, Marketing Eye has been a company who believes that growth is imperative to keep employees engaged, stay ahead of the curve and invest in areas such as innovation and technology – but this is all not easily funded.

I came across a company recently that sparked my attention:Kabbage.

I don't really like speaking at "all women" conferences. I am definitely not a gender specific person. I think every person is equal and should be treated likewise.

In fact, I think men now have it harder than women. With all of these mandates that say women should hold 50% of the positions on boards, many will now be overlooked even if they are better qualified, with more experience and capable of bringing more to the table.

But the fact of the matter is, many women have been overlooked for years. It's kind of pay back time - but I am not sure society is doing it right.
